200 New Monsters for Black Flag Roleplaying
11 months ago – Thu, Aug 17, 2023 at 08:36:23 AM

As Black Flag Roleplaying continues to gather support, more supporting projects are being announced from publishing partners large and small.

The most recent is Tome of Horrors for TOV and 5E, a collection of more than 200 monsters and NPCs from Frog God Games. Long-time gamers will remember that the Tome of Horrors series started in 2001--it has been continuously updated and improved since then, with printings for multiple editions.

There's much more information about this project on the Tome of Horrors Kickstarter page, including a sample creature, the history of Tome of Horrors, and the print formats available.

Also, the kobolds could not help but notice that this volume includes creatures from Tehuatl (a South American-themed locale) could work extremely well with Koboa RPG, with its roots in South American myth and legend. This sort of support is a great example of Open Gaming providing more options for everyone!

Give Tome  of Horrors a look today, and expand your monstrous options for TOV!

BackerKit and Spore Lord Live!
11 months ago – Fri, Jul 21, 2023 at 10:41:53 AM

Today, the pledge management phase of the Kickstarter, done via BackerKit, is now live. In addition, we’re releasing Caverns of the Spore Lord!

BackerKit

BackerKit is how we collect preorder and Kickstarter shipping details, and all backers should have received emails with BackerKit surveys.

This BackerKit will close on Friday, January 12, 2024, which means we will no longer be taking preorders or pledge adjustments (such as address changes) after this date. If you include any add-ons and/or if your order includes any shipping costs, your card will be charged on or around January 12, 2024, when the BackerKit closes.

To complete your survey, log in to BackerKit using the email address you used in Kickstarter. (If you use an AppleID for Kickstarter, see Troubleshooting below.)

A screenshot of the login page for BackerKit

Then select this project from your list of surveys. You can find your pledges and surveys and access to your settings in the top-right corner of the screen.

A screenshot of the navigation menu in BackerKit.

Answer a few questions, add any addons you want, give us your shipping and payment information, and confirm everything by clicking the big, green “Place My Order” button! You can return to your order at any time before the BackerKit closes to update your address, edit your order, or update your card.

Troubleshooting: AppleID

If you use an AppleID for Kickstarter, please reach out to us via support.koboldpress.com. Using an AppleID for Kickstarter means BackerKit can’t send you the email communications, such as the link to fill out your survey or the notice of when the survey closes (i.e. when your card will be charged). Our support team can help resolve that.

Troubleshooting: Unsubscribed to BackerKit Notifications

If you unsubscribed to BackerKit notifications and don’t see your survey email, go to your Settings and uncheck “Do not send me survey invites or reminders for ‘No Reward’ pledges.”

Troubleshooting: Can’t Find the Email and/or New to BackerKit

If you’re new to BackerKit, you can follow this link: https://valiant.backerkit.com/ enter your Kickstarter email address, and click “Get My Survey” to get a new email sent to you. You don’t need an account with BackerKit to complete the survey, but having an account makes it easier to update your address and/or check on and adjust your order at any time before the BackerKit closes.

Friends Interested in Tales of the Valiant?

If you know someone interested in supporting Tales of the Valiant, the preorder page is also now live. Preorders are available here: https://valiant.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Caverns of the Spore Lord

A fan of pages of the cover and interior from the Caverns of the Spore Lord adventure.

Today is also the release of the Caverns of the Spore Lord adventure. This adventure is a companion adventure to the Alpha and requires you to have access to the Alpha to run the adventure. Things to note about this adventure:

  • Intended for PCs of 1st level, who go up to 3rd level by the end of the adventure.
  • Intended to be run in two or three sessions.
  • Features a new adventure structure for faster pick-up-and-play.

Submitting Feedback

If you want to submit feedback about Caverns of the Spore Lord, use the Alpha Release Feedback form on our website and select the “Other” option. For feedback related to the monsters in the adventure, please select the “Chapter 5: Monsters” option in that form.

Getting the Adventure

If you pledged at any tier on this Kickstarter (from the $48 PDF Collection tier to the $699 Super-Deluxe Two-Book Set tier), you will receive a message via Kickstarter (and/or an email from Kickstarter that you received a message from us) with a link to the Caverns of the Spore Lord on the Kobold Press website and a coupon code. You can add the adventure to your cart and use the coupon code during checkout, making it a $0 purchase. You will need an account on the Kobold Press store website to complete your order. Once checkout is complete, download the PDF by clicking the Download link in the receipt or from My Account > Downloads

Create a Kobold Press Store Account

To create an account, click Store > My Account > Create Account. The store will automatically sign you in after you complete the registration. You can then complete checkout.

Troubleshooting

  •  Slow Download: To avoid multiple orders stacking up in our account, check your Downloads page before attempting a second checkout. Your order may go through even when the site is working slowly or at high volume.
  •  Lost Password: If you have forgotten your Kobold Press store password, visit http://koboldpress.com/kpstore/my-account/lost-password
  •  Other Issues: If you have tried all of the above and still can’t claim your Caverns of the Spore Lord PDF or if you do not see a message in Kickstarter from us by 6pm Pacific today, please contact us via support.koboldpress.com

What if I Didn’t Pledge at a Tier? What if My Friend Wants a Copy?

Caverns of the Spore Lord will be available for purchase on the Kobold Press website for those who didn’t back this Kickstarter or for those who didn’t back at a pledge tier.

We look forward to your feedback on Caverns of the Spore Lord!
